Who are Burnham Bowls Club?

The Club has been in existence since 1922 and is located in the village of Burnham; on the borders of Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.

We are primarily a lawn bowls club with a green that is configured with six playing areas - known as Rinks. Our playing season runs between April and September although the Clubhouse is used throughout the year for a variety of activities – both social and sporting.

We are affiliated to Bowls England (the national governing body of lawn bowls) and Buckinghamshire Bowls Association (the County authority who facilitates County run competitions between the 43 member organisations).

Playing membership of the Club enables our bowlers to enter both County and National competitions. However, we know not everyone will wish to play in these external competitions. We can’t all reach the very high levels of ability needed to be successful on that stage.

We run internal bowls competitions for our members each year (entry is optional). There are ten competitions, including one (a singles competition) for “novices” i.e. those who have never won a competition before. You can also enter pairs and triples competitions with others and be as part of a team. So, there are plenty of opportunities for members to put their bowling skills to the test.

In addition to competitive matches we organise friendly matches, played at the weekends, against other local bowling clubs.

We run a programme of social events predominantly in the off season, to engage with our playing and social members throughout the year.

We see the Club, and its facilities, as a community asset and welcome other local groups and organisations to make use of the Clubhouse and the associated facilities on mutually agreed terms.

We encourage people, of whatever ability, to come and try our sport.
